The Music Set

Overview
The Music Set teaches children as young as 18 months old how to identify patterns through color and sound. Decoding sounds helps to process words all while building a love for music with real instruments that are set in the pentatonic scale - that way no matter what they play, or how loud they play it, it will always sound in key.
Design
With so many instruments to keep track of, we designed the packaging to double as a storage case for children and parents. It keeps everything organized when not in use and makes it easy to take the set on the go. To achieve this, we designed a molded pulp tray to hold the pat bells in place during transit. This was placed at the top of the set in an FSRO tray to make it easy to toss the bells back in after use. The music book has its own press-fit at the bottom of the box, and all of the other instruments can be placed in any orientation in the remaining cavity for safe and convenient storage.
Manufacturing
To make a pulp mold that could be easily retained and hold up well over time, we chose to use a wet press process for production. The result was a very tightly packed set that palletized efficiently and was able to ship globally.
